FACING PHANTOMS

(A feature documentary currently in production)

Grasping at the hem of an everlasting beauty, this feature documentary follows the path of an ancient tradition which seeks to reinvigorate the banality of post-modern existence.

Facing Phantoms appeals to the profound wisdom and transformative power of the ancient Eastern Orthodox Church. It advocates for tradition in a world where morality is optional and human connections have all but eroded. We’ve exchanged rich aesthetics for cheap materialism and meaningful lives for endless waves of distraction. Anxiety, depression, and suicide rates skyrocket alongside our rising global temperatures. Humanity has been cut loose; we are adrift...in desperate need of an anchor.

Amidst modernity’s chaos, this film calls for a reevaluation of classical ideas such as tradition, mythology, and mysticism. By engaging the senses, it invites the audience to reconnect with their innate spirituality, grounding them in the glory of the physical realm while also transcending it limitations. Facing Phantoms challenges a prevailing paradigm that casually dismisses the mysterious, and urges its audience to rediscover the embedded wisdom of a universally ancestral tradition.

At its core, this film contends that the pursuit of beauty is not optional, but rather essential to humanity’s deeper purpose, and goes so far as to expose our physical world as the very portal to Perfect Love. Facing Phantoms seeks to holistically harmonize the material and spiritual, ultimately leading its audience toward personal transformation, a rekindling of purpose, and a renewed sense of beauty.

currently in production

  • Making a feature documentary is like wrestling with a bear. We are introducing a multi-millennia subject, spanning a myriad of civilizations and languages. We will work with local teams, hiring crews from within the regions we are documenting. This is a big story, and what a relevant time to share this hidden gem with the world.

  • We approach this endeavor as if painting a time-based digital icon of the church: it is an experience that can transport viewers. Every aspect of this production will consider beauty and truth as the primary filters in which all content will be collected and presented. Every creative decision will aim towards the embrace of Perfect Beauty.

  • Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Missouri, Alaska, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York. Possibly Mount Athos in Greece.

  • We hope to collaborate with organizations like Ancient Faith, Patristic Nectar, and Death to the world. We hope to interview giants like Father Turbo Qualls and Jonathan Pageau. But mostly, we want to follow the path of those quietly seeking and living the faith.

  • Facing Phantoms will hopefully be financed through the generous gifts of those who believe in the relevancy of the Orthodox Tradition. It will take a village to bring the “fullness of the faith” to life on a big screen.
